Rugged, raspy and reserved, JJ Shiplett is a true artist in every sense of the word. Unapologetically himself, the Alberta born singer-songwriter and performer is both bold in range and musical creativity and has a passion and reverence for the art of music and performance that has captured the attention of music fans across the country. The forthcoming debut album “Something To Believe In” is an impressive and emotive collection which includes fan favourites “Higher Ground”, “Darling, Let’s Go Out Tonight” and the title track “Something To Believe In” from Shiplett’s EP (The E.P.), and will be released in January 2017 via HALO Entertainment Group/Warner Music Canada.

Recorded in Toronto and Nashville fans can expect to hear Shiplett’s signature gravelly and soulful sound front and centre on each and every album track. The self-penned album represents Shiplett’s impressive vocal range, songwriting and effortlessly tracks the last two years of his story. Rugged, raspy and reserved, Shiplett is often compared to Bruce Springsteen and Chris Stapleton, and has been praised by the public, media and the industry across the country – many going on record to say that he is the “one to watch” (Saskatoon Star Phoenix).

With a passion and reverence for the art of music and performance, Shiplett spent the earlier part of the year as direct support for multi-platinum entertainer Johnny Reid on the 47 show, 35 cities “What Love Is All About Tour”. He quickly gained momentum with the release of “The E.P.” – a perfect testament to his range and depth as an artist, and a record that couples outstanding songwriting, showcases the Alberta-born artist’s musical creativity, and celebrates his honest lyricism backed by his powerful and unique voice.
