Love and Information by Caryl Churchill British playwright Caryl Churchill’s play Love and Information explores a world where we are bombarded with information, where the speed of communication replaces human connection. She focuses on the human desire for information, identity, memory and love and shows how our insatiable appetite for knowledge needs to be informed by our capacity for love. Churchill presents us with scene after scene as if we are scrolling through Instagram or going down an internet rabbit hole. All the while we are asked questions: How ethical is information gathering? What is justified to get it? And what is it used for? How do we constuct memory? And how does it shape our identity? What really matters? Is it love or life?
