Alberta-born soprano Nicole J. Brooks is known for her “warm, flexible and powerful voice“. Nicole has sung a number of operatic roles including the dynamic role of Clorinda in La Cenerentola as part of Vancouver Opera’s 2019 festival season. She has appeared with Edmonton Opera in a variety of concerts and as one of the 2020-2021 Emerging Artists. She also toured with the University of BC in a series of Centennial concerts, traveling to Beijing, Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, and Germany. She has been granted multiple scholarships and awards for her accomplishments, one of which was the Vancouver Opera Guild’s 2019 Career Development Grant. This took her to Germany to continue the exploration and development of her art. Nicole has also competed in many international competitions including the George London Competition in NYC where she received the Canadian singer award. Nicole completed her Masters of Music in Opera Performance at the University of BC and garnered additional experience at the European Music Academy, the Banff Centre for Creativity and Arts, and Opera Nuova. As well as through extensive training with renowned performers including Sondra Radvanovsky, Judith Forst, Metropolitan Opera coach: Carol Isaac, and Wexford Festival artistic director: David Agler. Being intrigued with the mechanics, psychology and techniques that produce the human voice Nicole has a passion to share her knowledge and inspire learning. Nicole joined the music faculty at U of A, Augustana last year and is excited to continue working with the BMUS voice students.
